Befriending Circles

befriending

Befriending Circles is a project run by Age Concern Sir Gâr, launched in April 2010. The project looks to support older people who are isolated or in danger of becoming isolated. Age Concern Sir Gâr is supporting volunteers to visit older people and help them to make new friendships, socialise, shop and generally be more active within their communities.

Social isolation can lead to a downturn in a person’s emotional wellbeing which can lead to ill health and depression. Ill health & depression can lead to a lack of motivation and lack of motivation can lead to social isolation. This is a continuing circle. Age Concern Sir Gâr aims to break that circle.

Would you like to volunteer and help someone to get out and about? Have you got transport that you are willing to share? We are working across the whole of Carmarthenshire and we would love to hear from you! More information on volunteering with us.
